Gary spent his childhood in Burns, Oregon. He graduated from high school, college and graduate school in Southern California. Gary has spent most of his adult life in Oregon, living in the Eugene area for many years. He served as Executive Director for the Lane County Community Mental Health Center and later for a social service agency in Corvallis. For several years he was the Executive Director of a national association of small businesses.

In the early 90’s, Gary and his family moved to rural Yamhill County, where he commuted to work in Portland, managing a mental health services agency. He later served as Administrative Manager for the Washington County Department of Health and Human Services for several years.

Thirteen years ago, Gary founded the Oregon Health Career Center. The Center works with hospitals and other health providers throughout the state on health care workforce issues. Their k-12 programs also expose thousands of young people each year to science and health careers. The Center has recently relocated from Tualatin to Wilsonville.

Gary’s son, Brandon is a senior at Tualatin High School, where Gary helps coach his racket ball team. Gary enjoys running and playing racket ball. He is an active member of the National Coalition for Diversity in the Health Professions, and currently volunteers as Treasurer of the Friends of Wilsonville.

His wife, Mary Ann works for the City of Wilsonville at the Community Center, and they live in Wilsonville.
